Moving House by Gill Edwards
Mixed media on wood, 20 x 20 cm
£245
In May 2017, we sold our family home and had an offer accepted on
an apartment but shortly after I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the City Hospital, Nottingham. In July 2017, I had a mastectomy which led to chemotherapy starting in September 2017, two weeks later we moved into our apartment, on that same day I started to lose my hair. We were surrounded by packing boxes, but I had no energy or enthusiasm, so my daughter Bryony came to stay for a few days and was fantastic, she managed to make our apartment feel like a haven for my recovery. There was a moment during unpacking when she sat on the sofa to have a rest, and this is that moment. The title Moving House belies the real act of love and care.
