I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on Friday 9 June 2017, the day after my daughter Ellie’s birthday and the day of her final exam for an MA. On Saturday 10 June 2017 Ellie moved to London to start her first job as a food writer. When I was diagnosed my first thought was how to tell Ellie this news at such a critical time in her life. We got the train to London in a daze, and I don’t remember much about the weekend apart from noticing we were all often on the brink of tears, made so much harder by having to leave Ellie in London and to come home to face an MRI scan.
Ellie’s new career offered her lots of wonderful opportunities to travel, reviewing hotels and restaurants and one day she found herself on a red carpet at a food awards ceremony.
This is that moment when Ellie was on the red carpet.
Sometimes there’s much more to a title than it seems.
